We’re glad you’ve stopped by!
Why you should take the time to read our reviews before buying your next pair of shoes:
You spend most of your life in your shoes, even if you don’t know it. Remember how we’re told that since we spend 1/3 of our lives asleep, we can’t skimp on finding a good mattress? Well, your shoes should follow the same principle! If you work full-time, you’re spending 40 hours every week in the same pair of shoes, not to mention the commute to work, or the time you spend walking around to do errands on the way home.
Since you spend a good chunk of your life in them, it’s so, so important to find shoes that are comfortable and supportive. We’ve spent our fair share of time in crappy shoes, and we know all the problems they can bring.
We’ve all been through that agonizing process of trying to figure out “what did I do to my ankle?”, or, “why the heck do my joints always hurt, when I haven’t even been running?” Sometimes, you can end up in physical therapy before you realize that your shoes have been the culprit the whole time!
Here’s just one example of bad shoes at work:
Badly-made or poorly-fitting shoes can cause any number of foot problems, whether it’s in your arch, heel, or metatarsal region. A lot of us are conditioned to think that feet just get uncomfortable by the end of the day, or after lots of walking. The honest truth is, they don’t have to! With a well-made, properly-fitted pair of shoes, you can feel refreshed and supported all the way through the day.
Besides, problems that start in your feet can spread through your whole body. Did you know that shoes are often the cause of posture issues? How about joint aches? That’s right! If shoes don’t support your feet anatomically, you’re going to be looking at a wobbly gait which stresses out your joints and doesn’t engage your core to protect your back.
So, why are our reviews special?
Online shopping has made it possible to find exactly what you like and need in your shoes, but since most brick and mortar stores can’t stock every single model for you to try on, it can be a tricky business to figure out what’s going to fit well and make you comfortable from online reviews.
And reading reviews online, it’s nearly impossible to gauge whether a pair of shoes is actually decent or not. Right? Practically every shoe listing on the internet has half the reviewers raving about how great they are, and the other half moaning that their feet have never been in so much pain.
We’re going to strive to do things differently!
First, we’ll help you figure out exactly what your feet need. We’ll teach you all the essentials of figuring out what kind of arch support you need, how to find a balance between cushion and support, and all those mechanical things which go into determining whether you’ll find shoes comfortable or not!
Then, we’ll introduce you to all our recommended footwear in in-depth reviews which strive to give you an objective take on how each pair of shoes work, what makes them better than the competing styles, and which types of people they suit best.
That’s why we started the site–we haven’t seen any other shoe review source that provides in-depth analysis and comparisons that the average person can easily understand and use. We wanted our site to be different. We want to both show you the absolute best shoes on the market, and explain them well enough for you to be sure you’re picking the right pair. After all, it doesn’t matter how well-designed or well-made your footwear is if it’s the wrong shape or feel for your feet!
We’re completely objective reviewers when we look at a pair of shoes. Of course, we’re going to also recommend shoes that we’ve had personal experiences with, and have come to love. But unlike a lot of professional reviewers like those at periodicals, commercial running shoe websites, and so forth, we’re not biased by sponsorships, brand samples, or anything like that! We’re tied to no particular brands, and that’s why we’re able to bring you accurate, objective reviews all based on a genuine interest in helping people find their perfect pair!
Our site is constantly expanding, and we’re on a mission to encompass lots of styles with specific guides that focus on real foot health and comfort, helping people figure out a tricky fit online by talking about the mechanics of good footwear.
As our site continues to grow and evolve, we’re driven by the goal of helping people find solutions for any need. Our site has lots of specific guides, including:
Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis
Shoes for Flat Feet
Plus: Comfortable footwear for people with bunions, metatarsalgia, or achilles tendinitis!
And much, much more!
While we’re not podiatrists, we’ve made it our goal to be as helpful and knowledgeable as possible about foot health so that we can come up with better guides! Our guides tell you how shoes actually work, with helpful advice for figuring out what you need from your work shoes, running shoes, or walking shoes. We want to help you understand foot mechanics and shoe features in terms anyone can make sense of!
We also tell you how shoes fit compared to others to help you get the best size right off the bat!
We’ll tell you how the toe box fits, how the arch support feels, and even how long it’ll take to break in your shoes!
In short, we want to help you find shoes that:
